The Allison Joy McKnight Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Allison McKnight, a beloved mathematics teacher at Paul G. Blazer High School. Allison was dedicated to promoting the enjoyment and application of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) opportunities to the community. The Paul G. Blazer High School National Mathematics Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, funds the memorial scholarship to one qualifying senior entering a STEM program. Application below provides further qualifications.

2021 AJM Receipients
Benjamin Acuff and Caleb Tackett
Ben Acuff just completed his first semester at Northern Kentucky University studying Cybersecurity and Computer Science. He is an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega men’s fraternity, involved in the Baptist Campus Ministry, and a Peer Coach at NKU’s College of Informatics. His hobbies include weightlifting, coding, and attending numerous sports events. He plans on graduating from Northern Kentucky University in three years with a B.S. degree in Cybersecurity. After that, he plans to work in the IT field and go on more mission trips to Guatemala. He hopes to use his skills and abilities one day to do what he believes is most important in life, change others’ lives. He is very thankful for the AJM scholarship and the opportunities it has provided him in pursuing his degree at NKU.

Langley Sebastian and Kyle McComis
Langley Sebastian is a freshman at Transylvania University studying International Affairs, Environmental Science, and Spanish. She is a member of Ashland for Change, Chi Omega women’s sorority, the Transylvania Women’s Golf Team, and she is also a Political Affairs intern for the Borgen Project. In her free time, she enjoys writing for a magazine, golfing, and traveling. Langley plans to graduate from Transylvania in three years with a Bachelor’s degree. She recently got accepted into Transylvania’s College Peace Corps program, which she hopes to complete through her time at Transy. She plans to join the Peace Corps in its environmental sustainability efforts in Panama. After the Peace Corps, she plans to attend law school to eventually become an environmental attorney. She hopes to use her degree to fight against policies and corporations that endanger our planet. Science has had a significant impact on her life, and she hopes her passion allows her to make a difference.
Kyle McComis is a freshman at the University of Kentucky studying Mechanical Engineering. He is a part of SEAM (Scholars in Engineering and Management), the Lewis Honors College, and the campus ministry CRU. Kyle hopes to do undergraduate research with the Shriners Hospital for Children innovating orthopedic braces and improving alternative treatments. He plans to graduate with a Mechanical engineering degree and certificate in Aerospace engineering before pursuing an MBA from the Gatton College of Business. He is incredibly thankful for the AJM scholarship and the opportunities that it has provided him at UK.
